For some time, more than a year, mass media have been telling you that there is war in the eastern part Ukraine. Nevertheless, the country is still open for tourists and welcomes foreign visitors from all over the world. So, how is it possible and is it safe to travel to Ukraine?
The thing is, the war zone is limited by the eastern part of the country (regions of Donetsk and Luhansk) which borders on Russia. You can see these two regions on the map, in red circles.
Ukraine is a huge country, one of the biggest in Europe. And, as you can see from the map, Kyiv is really far from any danger. Actually, it is closer to Poland or Belarus than to Donetsk or Luhansk. So, if you stick to the central and Western parts of the country, you have nothing to worry about.
