Summer days are over. But despite the chill in the air, Kiev has lots of places to see and things to do. So what choices do you have this fall?
Tour Kiev’s parks
Kiev has many parks which look great in autumn colors. One of them is Hryshko National Botanical Garden which covers 120 hectares and contains thousands of trees, flowers, and other plants from all over the world. A must see for tourists is Pirogovo, an open air museum of Ukrainian architecture, which represents more that 300 unique objects beginning from the 16th to the 20th century. A much smaller but more central is Mariyinsky Park located not far from the Khreschatik Street, and near the Ukrainian parliament. It is also one of the oldest parks in Ukraine, with the history of more than 100 years. In the nearby you will see the Mariyinsky Palace which was build in the middle of the 18th century by the famous Italian architect Rastrelli.

Walk along Khreschatik and nearby streets
Khreschatik is the capital’s main tourist artery. The street is filled with numerous shops, bars and restaurants. From here you can get to Maidan Nezalezhnosti, the central square of the capital, to the Mariyinsky Park or to the Friendship of Nations Arch, which has a great viewing deck.

Visit historic attractions and buy souvenirs
One of the major tourist attractions is the Andriyivskyy Descent which is often referred to as “Montmartre of Kiev”. Here you will find numerous museums and historic attractions (Saint Andrew’s Church, the Castle of Richard the Lionheart among them) and will be able to fill your suitcase with local souvenirs. Also, be sure to visit Kiev Pechersk Lavra and Saint Sophia Cathedral (both belong to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites).

Have fun in one of the water parks
If you miss summer and love swimming, the best way for you to spend a day is to visit one of the indoor aqua parks. The first one, Dream Island, is in the DreamTown trade center, next to the Minska metro stations. It has a lot of pools, challenging slides, hot saunas and other attractions. The other one, Terminal water park, is located outside of Kiev, in Brovary (30 minutes from the Lisova metro station). The park includes swimming pools, slides, Jacuzzis, massage fountains, saunas, a children zone with slides and a bar in the water. Both water parks are great for families with children.
Visit a themed festival
There are a lot of festivals held in Kiev this autumn: the City Festival of Food 3.0. (Art-Zavod Platforma, October 3), Japanese culture exhibition “Yaponomaniya” (Nivki-hall, October 3-4), the Day of Tbilisi (Pechersk Landscape Park, Spivoche Pole, October 4), jazz concert “RetroCruise” (Hryshko National Botanical Garden, October 4), the festival of knitting (Kyiv International Exhibition Centre, October 16-18), 37th Ukrainian Fashion Week (Mystetsky Arsenal, October 14-20) and many others.
